Artist's Statement

In my work, I explore the complexity of memory. Images serve as a visual record of everyday events. The contradicting ideas of truthful representation or mere personal interpretation are investigated. The slight abstraction of images and the juxtaposition of seemingly unrelated objects or elements, support the idea of altered recollection. The inherent beauty of flaws and imperfection resonates in my work.

Process heavily influences my pieces. While I use a variety of materials and processes, my methodology is consistent. Traditional methods of textile arts such as appliqué and hand embroidery are integrated with various fine art techniques , including drawing, painting and collage. Formal observation leads me to explore texture, color and line in these mediums.
